What We Believe

Our faith is grounded in Scripture and expressed through a life of devotion, service, and hope in Jesus Christ.

Kannapolis Church of Christ

Statement of Faith and Practices

We are not bound by a human-made creed. Our ultimate commitment is to the Bible as God’s revelation and our guide for faith and practice. The following summary describes the convictions and practices of the Kannapolis church.

01

Deity

We believe in one God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God created and sustains all things. Jesus, the Son, became human, lived faithfully, died for our sins, rose from the dead, and now reigns with the Father. The Holy Spirit guided the writing of Scripture and helps Christians live faithfully.

02

The Bible

We regard both the Old and New Testaments as inspired by God. Scripture reveals God’s character and will, and it is sufficient to teach and guide the church.

03

Salvation

God created people with free will, yet everyone eventually sins and needs redemption. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, those who believe in him, repent, confess their faith, and are baptized into Christ receive forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

04

Baptism

We baptize believers who have confessed faith in Jesus and turned toward God. Baptism is immersion in water and represents dying and rising with Christ. We understand it as the point at which God forgives sins, gives the Holy Spirit, unites believers with Christ, and adds them to his church.

05

The Church

The church is made up of believers baptized into Christ, with Jesus as its head. The Kannapolis church is an autonomous congregation that assembles and serves together. Elders provide spiritual oversight, deacons serve with designated responsibilities, and members contribute through many ministries.

06

Worship

When we assemble, we pray, study Scripture, sing, and encourage one another. Our singing is without instrumental accompaniment. Each Sunday we share the Lord’s Supper in remembrance of Jesus’ death and resurrection and in hope of his return.

07

Outreach

We take seriously Jesus’ call to share the gospel. We support preaching and ministry in our local community, throughout the United States, and around the world. We also respond to the needs of members and our neighbors through practical compassion.

08

Personal Conduct

Followers of Christ are called to live with integrity, humility, love, and self-control. We seek to let our daily choices reflect our identity in Christ and our responsibility to God and one another.
